Stags Travel to Nation’s Capital to Face Howard on Friday

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will continue their three-game road swing and travel to the nation's capital as they battle the Howard Bison on Friday at noon. The contest will feature two teams ranked in the College Insider Mid-Major Top-25 poll with the Stags checking in eighth and Howard 19th. This will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

The game will also feature a pair of preseason favorites in their respective conferences with Fairfield picking up the top-spot in the MAAC and Howard being chosen the favorites in the MEAC. This will be Fairfield's second matchup against a conference preseason favorite this year after taking down South Florida out of the American Athletic Conference.

The Stags also enter this weekend as the nation's top 3-point shooting team connecting on 12.5 made 3-pointers per game. Fairfield reached that number after draining a program-record 18 3-pointers in the setback at Iowa which also tied a Carver-Hawkeye Arena single-game record.

Fairfield has three players ranked in the top-five in the MAAC in triples per game, led by freshman Christina Pham's 2.8 per contest which is the seventh-most among any freshman in the country.

Meghan Andersen led the Stags with four made 3-pointers in the game at Iowa, including the 150th of her career as she becomes the ninth Stag all-time to reach that mark.

Junior Kaety L'Amoreaux is coming off her second MAAC Player of the Week award after filling out the stat sheet in Fairfield's 1-1 week. She leads the conference with 5.2 assists per game which ranks in the top-50 in the nation.

With all that success, the Stags enter the weekend eighth in the College Insider Mid-Major Top-25 poll while being one of four teams receiving a first-place vote. Fairfield also received a vote in the Associated Press (AP) Top-25 poll, the fourth-straight week they have tallied a vote in the national poll.

Fairfield will conclude their three-game road trip when they visit Richmond on Sunday at 2pm.
