Stags Roll in Non-Conference Finale for Third Consecutive Win

Six net double figures, 12 Stags score in 121-58 victory

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Men's Basketball closed out the non-conference portion of the slate with a 121-58 win over the visiting Division III City College of New York on Monday at Leo D. Mahoney Arena. Braden Sparks had a career-high 26 points to lead six Stags to net double figures and a total of 12 to contribute to the Fairfield scoring output.

Fairfield will head into a week-long holiday break with a record of 8-5. The Stags' eight non-conference victories match the 2012-13 team for the most in a season with a full 18-20 game MAAC slate.

"Throughout the non-conference schedule, we've done a good job of just focusing on getting better individually and collectively," said Head Coach Chris Casey. "Over the last few weeks, I feel like we've really made some strides in key areas."

Tonight's 121-58 final score marked the second-highest scoring game in Fairfield history, topped only by the historic 123-103 win over #14 Holy Cross on Jan. 21, 1978. The 63-point margin of victory over CCNY is a new program record, surpassing the 110-55 victory over Medgar Evers in 2021.

In addition to a career-high 26 points for Sparks, the MAAC's leading scorer also knocked down a career-best six three-pointers.

Declan Wucherpfennig also set a new career mark with 20 points and hauled in game-leading 13 rebounds. Halon Rawlins netted 13 points, Deuce Turner scored 11 to lead the bench scoring, and the duo of Tony Williams and Nasir Williams had 10 points apiece. Prior to tonight's outing, the Stags last saw six players in double figures in last season's 87-84 overtime victory at Manhattan.

Making his first career start, Isaac Munkadi had a career night with seven points, 10 rebounds and five blocked shots. Cam Estevez and Ryan Zan also each scored seven points, with Zan's output representing his first points as a Stag.

Eric Mejia scored six points off a 6-for-6 day at the free throw line, and the duo of Tanner Ostop and Joe Ganton each tallied the first two points of their collegiate careers.

The Stags finished the game with a season-high 16 three-pointers and shot 21-for-25 from the free throw line. Fairfield's scoring was facilitated by a career-high eight assists from Williams and three for Wucherpfennig.

Justin Morety led CCNY with 19 points, while Olabanjo Aborisade and David Leye had 10 apiece. Tonight's game will go down as an exhibition for the visiting Beavers.

The Stags are back in action and back at Leo D. Mahoney Arena next Monday, Dec. 29 at 7 p.m. to resume the MAAC portion of the schedule and conclude the 2025 calendar year against Saint Peter's. Tickets are on sale now at FairfieldStags.com/TIX.
