Theriault, Zaun Earn MAAC Weekly Honors

EDISON, N.J. – The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team had a pair of student-athletes earn Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) weekly recognition with Maddy Theriault being named the MAAC Player of the Week and Payton Zaun earning the conference's Rookie of the Week. The duo combined for nine points during the week with four total goals and helping the Stags extend their winning streak to five-straight.

Theriault picks up her third weekly honor of the season and the seventh of her career by picking up goals in both of Fairfield's matches against Rider and Manhattan. She has now scored in four-straight matches and is the MAAC leader in points (30) and goals (13); placing in the top-10 in the nation in both categories. She has now tallied 44 goals in her career with is the second most in program history and tied for the second most among active players in Division I.

"It was a good week for Maddy considering the amount of attention she's drawing in matches," Head Coach David Barrett said. "She scored two really good goals this week and is hopefully hitting her stride as we hit the home stretch."

Zaun also scored in both of Fairfield's wins, connecting on long strikes in the win against the Broncs and the Jaspers. Zaun has now recorded eight points for the season with a pair of goals and four assists. It is also her second weekly award after claiming the MAAC Rookie of the Week back in August.

"I'm glad to have Payton back," Coach Barrett said. "She was out for a little while at the beginning of the year but I think she's hitting her stride again. She's a really, really good player so I'm happy that she's starting to find her confidence and take some good chances around the goal."

Theriault, Zaun, and the rest of the Stags have built a 13-1-2 record this season, the fourth-highest winning percentage in the country. Fairfield will have a week off before competing in their final regular season match on Lessing Field against Niagara on Saturday at noon.
