FAIRFIELD, Conn. – After opening Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play with a three-match homestand, Fairfield University Volleyball hits the road for the first time in league play. The Stags will visit the MAAC's New Jersey contingent with a Friday, Oct. 10 trip to Saint Peter's and a Saturday, Oct. 11 showdown at Rider.
Fairfield University Stags (9-4, 3-0 MAAC)
- The Stags went 3-0 on their conference-opening homestand with wins over Merrimack, Quinnipiac, and Sacred Heart.
- Fairfield, which is riding a four-match winning streak overall, is one of three 3-0 MAAC teams alongside Rider and Niagara.
- The Stags racked up 16 blocks, including 10 in the third set, in Tuesday's 3-1 win over Sacred Heart.
- Harlan Wyche had nine blocks against the Pioneers and enters the weekend leading the MAAC with 54 total blocks and 1.17 blocks per frame.
- Fairfield is hitting a MAAC-best .265 overall and is swinging at a .280 clip in league play.
Saint Peter's University Peacocks (5-9, 0-3 MAAC)
- Saint Peter's is seeking its first MAAC win of the campaign after road losses at Siena, Marist and Rider, all in straight sets.
- The Peacocks have been successful from behind the service line. Andrea Rodrigues leads the MAAC and ranks ninth nationally with 0.64 aces per set (28 total). Sibana Gonzalez Acevedo adds 26 aces (0.48/set).
- As a unit, Saint Peter's is hitting .159 with opponents hitting .235 against them.
All-Time Series (Fairfield leads 53-9)
- The Stags have won the last 26 meetings and 38 of the last 39 against Saint Peter's to take a commanding 53-9 lead in the all-time series.
- Saint Peter's last win over Fairfield was on Nov. 14, 2010 in Jersey City.
Rider University Broncs (5-8, 3-0 MAAC)
- The Broncs have earned MAAC victories over Marist, Siena and Saint Peter's to stand at 3-0 as a part of a 5-8 overall mark. Rider picked up non-league wins over Le Moyne and New Hampshire.
- In conference play, Rider leads the MAAC with a .315 hitting percentage. Overall, the Broncs are swinging at a .188 clip with opponents hitting .239 against them.
- Carley McAleavey leads the MAAC with a .407 hitting percentage.
- Kiannisha Santiago ranks third in the MAAC with 3.41 kills per set.
All-Time Series (Fairfield leads 46-5)
- Fairfield's five-set win last season in Lawrenceville ran its winning streak over the Broncs to 14 matches and pushed the all-time tally in the series to 46-5.
- The teams have recently met in the postseason in the 2021 MAAC Championship Match and the 2023 semifinals.
