FAIRFIELD, Conn. –
Natasha De Pree earned the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) women's swimmer and rookie of the week awards following her performance against Bryant University last Saturday. The freshman picked up wins in three events plus an additional victory as a member of the 400 free relay team.
De Pree paced the Stags against the Bulldogs by winning three freestyle events. She opened with a victory in the 800 free by completing the distance in 9:10.05. She followed up with the top time in the 200 free, clocking in at 2:04.80. In the 400 free, De Pree touched the wall with a time of 4:25.78.
She capped her day by leading off Fairfield's 400 free relay team which took the top spot by clocking in at 3:59.19, joining teammates
Ayva Christie,
Holly Rahurahu, and
Lauren Patalano for the win.
The performance against Bryant follows a record-setting day at the Fairfield Invitational one week earlier as De Pree set the school standard in the 800 free (9:06.91) in addition to winning the 100 free (59.28).
The Fairfield University men's and women's swimming and diving programs, under Head Coach
Jake Lichter, will continue their season with a dual meet at Providence College on Saturday, October 18. Diving is scheduled for 11 am with swimming events following at 1 pm.
