Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Stags Draw with Siena

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Elle Scott scored inside the first three minutes of the match, but Siena was able to tie the match in the 38th minute and hold off a shooting barrage in the second half, as the Fairfield University Women's Soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw at Siena. With the tie, the Stags earned their 10th point in the MAAC standings and extended their unbeaten streak to seven-straight.

Scott got the Stags (8-1-1, 3-0-1 MAAC) on the board just 2:29 into the match as she gained the rebound off a header from Alex Darcy. The score was Scott's fourth of the season and the 24th of her career.

That score would last for nearly the entire first half, but Siena was able to breakthrough as their leading scorer Catherine Rogers one-timed a shot into the top corner to knot the game at 1-1.

Fairfield controlled the pace for the majority of the second half and took 13 shots in the frame but could not find the game-winner.

Six of those shots came in the final five minutes of the match with rookie Ashlyn Walsh taking a couple, including one that just sailed over the bar. The freshman had another chance off a corner in the final minute but her attempt was hit over the bar by the Siena goalkeeper.

Goalkeeper Katie Wright made three saves in net, with her best coming in the first half off a point-blank shot by Megan Stowell and hit out of play by Caroline Kelly.

Fairfield out-shot the Saints 22-9 with a 7-4 edge on shots on goal. Fairfield also attempted eight corner kicks.

The Stags are back in action on Wednesday night when they welcome Saint Peter's to Lessing Field at 7pm.
