FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team will continue their season-long five-game homestand when they welcome the Iona Gaels to Lessing Field on Saturday night at 7pm. The Stags come into the contest with a 5-1 overall mark and will be looking for their fourth-straight win. Their .833 winning percentage is the highest in the conference and ranks in the top-25 in the country.
The Stags will be playing in their second conference game of the season after winning their MAAC opener against Rider 5-1 last week. The Stags were helped by four different goal scorers with
Maddy Theriault,
Meghan Carragher,
Reagan Klarmann, and
Caroline Kelly all touching the back of the net. Through their first six matches, the Stags have scored 17 times courtesy of 10 different goal scorers.
Theriault was the lone Stag to score twice in the win over the Broncs and has now scored multiple goals in back-to-back contests. She currently ranks second in the MAAC with five goals which also places her in the top-30 in the country. She is two goals shy of reaching 25 in her career and also placing her in the top-10 in program history.
Fairfield enters the match as the best offensive team in the conference, leading the MAAC in seven of the 11 offensive categories. They have notched 2.8 goals per game which places them 23rd in Division I. Fairfield has been the aggressors on the offensive front, averaging 18 shots per game with 8.5 of those attempts on target.
The Stags will next close out their non-conference slate and their five-match homestand against Princeton on Wednesday at 7pm.
