SHELTON, Conn. -- The Fairfield University women's rowing closed out the team meet portion of its schedule with its performance at the Sacred Heart Invitational on Sunday afternoon. The varsity 8, the second varsity 8, and the varsity four each took home second place runs while the second varsity 4 garnered a third-place finish.
The varsity 8 opened the event by completing its run with a time of 6;49.46, falling short against only the host school (6:40.53) but finishing in front of Canisius (6:51.67). The Stags entry included

The second varsity 8 earned a similar finish in its race, pulling down second place with a time of 7:12.5 behind the efforts of
Sophia Savage,
Shaylin Tombs,
Zuzanna Janusz,
Kelly Cullen,
Megan Rourke,
Miranda Schmidt,
Shawn O'Brien,
Lauren Hoppe, and coxswain Lexi Tomlinson. Sacred Heart earned the top time by crossing the line in 7:07.9 while Canisius (7:23.0), and Sacred Heart's second boat (7:38.1) rounded out the placements.
The varsity 4 clocked in at 8:19.1 which was off Sacred Heart's winning pace of 8:00.9 but ahead of Canisius (8:37.2) in the third event on the docket. Fairfield's student-athletes included

The Stags included two shells in the second varsity 4 and came away with third and fourth place finishes against two other Sacred Heart boats. Fairfield third-place crew was comprised by

Grace Polatsek,
Mia Van Mater, and coxswain Grace Tyska, who combined for a time of 9:17.6. The Stags second boat included Alex Harrington,
Lauren Esposito,
Cailey Chechitelli,
Raquel DeLeo, and coxswain
Alyssa Colombrita, a group which posted a time of 10:01.0.Â
The Fairfield University women's rowing team will now focus on the upcoming 2024 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships which take place on May 19 in Cherry Hill, N.J.
