Stags Claimed Both The MAAC Regular Season And Championship Titles This Year

STILLWATER, Okla.-The Fairfield University women's tennis team saw its superb 2024 season come to a close on Saturday, as the Stags fell in the Opening Round of NCAA Division 1 Championship Tournament to the host Oklahoma State University Cowgirls, 4-0.  OSU is the nation's number one ranked women's tennis team and the top national seed in the year's NCAA Championship.

After winning both the 2024 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference regular season and championship tournament crowns, Fairfield closes out 2024 with a 12-9 overall mark.  Oklahoma State remains undefeated on the season at 28-0, and the Cowgirls move on to face SMU in the Second Round of the NCAA Championship.

The hosts took Saturday's doubles point with straight sets wins at the number one and number two flights.  At number three doubles, Laina Campos and Nicolette Loeffler were battling trailing, 2-4, when their match was left unfinished.

The Cowgirls earned the match win in singles with straight sets victories in the number one, four and six positions.

At number three singles, Nicolette Loeffler fell in set one 1-6 and was trailing 4-5 when her match was left unfinished, and at number two singles, Katarina Plumtree trailed 2-3 in the second set after dropping set one in another unfinished match.
