Fairfield Basketball Adds Horizon League Transfer Makuei Riek

Riek redshirted his freshman season at Milwaukee

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Men's Basketball has signed transfer Makuei Riek to join the Stags beginning in the fall of 2024. Riek was a redshirt in his freshman season at Milwaukee this past year and comes to Fairfield with four years of eligibility.

"We are very excited to have Makuei join our program," said Head Coach Chris Casey. "He adds length and athleticism to the perimeter, can defend multiple positions and has the ability to score at all three levels.  We look forward to seeing what he can do as a member of the Fairfield Basketball family."

A 6-6 guard, Riek played scholastically at Mayo High School in Rochester, Minn. He was a three-year varsity player, earning back-to-back All-Big Nine Conference honors. Riek went on to play at We Are United Prep School in Missouri, where he averaged 23 points per game.

Riek is the fifth newcomer to sign with Coach Casey and Fairfield Men's Basketball during this offseason. The Stags are coming off of a 24-13 campaign in which they reached the MAAC Championship Game and the semifinals of the CBI.
