WEST WINDSOR, N.J.-The top-seeded Fairfield University women's tennis team continued to roll along on Saturday, as the Stags advanced to the finals of the 2024 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship being played at the Mercer County Park Tennis Center with a 4-2 triumph over the fourth-seeded Siena College Saints. Fairfield heads into Sunday's MAAC Championship Final with an overall record of 11-8, and the Stags have now won eight matches in a row.
Rain in the morning forced Saturday's match to be played indoors, and the top seed got off to a fast start winning the doubles point behind victories from Sarah Liu and Maeve Cassidy at number one, 7-5, and Francesca Karman and Lily Malinowski at number two, 6-3.
Singles play between the Saints and the Stags was a battle, but Fairfield prevailed to advance to Sunday's Championship on the strength of straight set victories from Nicolette Loeffler at number three (6-4. 6-2), Lily Malinowski at number five (6-1, 6-2) and Maeve Cassidy at number six (6-2, 6-4).
