Stags Make First-Ever Visit to Monmouth for Saturday CAA Clash

Fairfield and Monmouth are both 2-2 in conference play

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A key Coastal Athletic Association contest sends Fairfield University Men's Lacrosse to the Jersey Shore on Saturday, April 13 for a meeting with Monmouth. Opening faceoff between the Stags and Hawks is slated for noon.
 
Fairfield University Stags (5-6, 2-2 CAA)
  • The Stags have alternated wins and losses in their first four CAA contests, most recently falling to Delaware by a 14-6 count.
  • Bryce Ford netted his fifth hat trick of the campaign against the Blue Hens, running his team-leading totals to 27 goals and 12 assists.
  • Faceoff man Dylan Smith is just short of .500 at 119-for-241 at the X. He has collected 57 ground balls and scored a goal.
  • Owen Hirsch has drawn the start in the cage in the last two contests. On the season, he has made six total appearances amassing a .500 save percentage in 217:31 of action.
 
Monmouth University Hawks (5-5, 2-2 CAA)
  • Monmouth is also 2-2 in the CAA following a 15-4 win over Hampton last Saturday.
  • Brendan Dundas and Connor Gorman share the Monmouth lead with 20 goals apiece.
  • Dundas and Connor Macrae have each doled out a team-high nine assists.
  • Tommy Heller has started all 10 games in the Hawks' cage, posting a .539 save percentage and a 10.56 goals-against average.
 
Series History
  • Last season's 15-14 win for the Stags at Rafferty Stadium was the first-ever meeting between Fairfield and Monmouth.
  • The Stags have not played in the state of New Jersey since an 18-5 win over NJIT in the 2019 season.
