Bryce Ford posts six goals and two assists in the triumph

PHILADELPHIA – Fairfield University Men's Lacrosse scored the first three goals of Saturday's CAA clash at Drexel, then held off the host Dragons at every turn en route to an 18-13 victory. Bryce Ford paced the offense with six goals and two assists.

With the win, Fairfield levels its record at 5-5 overall and moves to 2-1 in the CAA. The Stags snapped a six-game winning streak by Drexel in the series. The Dragons move to 4-6 on the season with a 1-2 CAA mark.

Ford's six goals and eight total points matched his career highs. Will Consoli added four goals and Dean Ford scored three as the Stag reached a season-best 18 goals. Reilly Sullivan and Keegan Lynch each scored twice and Luke Okupski added one to cap the onslaught.

In addition to Bryce Ford's two assists, Lynch had a pair to cap a four-point day with Consoli, Dean Ford, Jake Gilbert and Julian Radossich distributed one helper. For Radossich, the assist marked the first career point for Fairfield's rookie LSM.

Radossich also paced the defensive effort with three caused turnovers and two ground balls. The freshman entered the day ranked seventh in the nation in caused turnovers. Rory Thompson added three ground balls and Matt Rice picked up a pair with the short stick.

Owen Hirsch made his first career start in the cage and made career-high nine saves to record the victory. He also vacated the cage to collect a pair of ground balls.

The Stags were one faceoff win below .500 for the day, with Dylan Smith heading that effort at 16-for-33 with eight ground balls. Jonathan Lewis was 1-for-2 in relief.

Gavin Kelly, Luke Tomak and Max Semple each tallied a hat trick for Drexel. Kelly has dished out two assists for a team-leading five points. Drew McGill went the distance in the Dragons' cage and finished with 14 saves.

Up next, Fairfield returns home to Rafferty Stadium to host Delaware on Saturday, April 6 at 1 p.m.
The reigning CAA Champion Blue Hens are 5-3 overall and 3-0 in conference action after trouncing Hampton, 21-3, this afternoon.
