ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Fairfield University swimming and diving teams finished up their stay at the 2024 ECAC Championships on Sunday with another solid performance in the pool. The final team standings showed the men's team taking seventh overall in the 18-team field with 159 points while the women's squad captured 13th out of 19 teams following today's events.

The men's 1650 free started the day for the Stags and two student-athletes put forth strong efforts, namely Joey Nizzardo's 11th-place overall finish in 16:07.74, and Ryan Woodzell's 12th-place swim in 16:28.44. The women's 200 back was the first time that a member of Fairfield's swimming team took to the water today. Shauna Harney secured 12th overall and fourth in the B final by touching the wall in 2:08.90.

Abbie DiGregorio was next up for the women's team as she faced the field in the 100 free, registering a time of 54.72 in the preliminaries. The men's team placed three swimmers in the same event who each participated in the preliminaries. Tim Regan posted a time of 46.03 in his lane while Nicholas Besgen and Alex Sirkowa garnered a time of 46.20 and 46.55, respectively. In the 200 fly, Gabriella Tejeda took 16th overall with her finish of 2:13.06 for the women's team with Joseph Stewart collecting fifth (1:50.37) and Vlass garnering a time of 1:56.56 in the preliminaries.

Tone Sandsjo rounded out the women's competition with her performance in the 400 free, winning the B final and taking ninth overall by finishing the distance in 3:44.06. The men's 400 free relay team ended the meet for Fairfield, picking up fifth place with a time of 3:04.31 behind the efforts of Oliver McLaughlin, Sirkowa, Besgen, and Regan.
