#20/25 Fairfield Shuts Down Sacred Heart in 15-5 Rout

Kozak scores four, Talluto nets a hat trick in crosstown triumph

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- #20/25 Fairfield University Women's Lacrosse rolled to its sixth straight win on Saturday on Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium with a 15-5 win over crosstown foe Sacred Heart. Amanda Kozak scored four goals for the Stags and Elizabeth Talluto notched a hat trick with two assists as the Stags closed out the non-conference slate with a victory.
 
Talluto's scoring totals ran her team-leading tallies to 25 goals and 33 points on the year. The Stags also got multi-goal outings from Maggie Fort and Grace Slater with two apiece. Libby Rowe, Christine Fabrizi, Haley Burns and Kelly Haggerty each scored one on the day.
 
Fort and Sarah Bucher also chipped in two assists apiece, with Slater and Rowe each distributing one helper.
 
Defensively, the Stags allowed just five goals for the second straight game, running their tally to eight straight quarters conceding two goals or fewer. Burns and Julia Rigolizzo each had a pair of caused turnovers on the backline, and Rylee Harrell notched three caused turnovers and collected three ground balls from the midfield.
 
Harrell also kept the Stags on the attack with five draw controls, as did Brynn Donnelly working from the center circle.
 
Reigning MAAC Defensive Player of the Week Claire Morris made five saves and allowed just three goals in 45 minutes of work. She was spelled by Phoebe Proctor in the fourth quarter.
 
Emma Kittredge had a goal and three assists for Sacred Heart (2-5) as one of five Pioneers to tally a single goal on the day.
 
Up next, Fairfield opens the MAAC schedule next Saturday, March 23 with a noon draw at Niagara. The Purple Eagles are 6-1, including a 3-0 home tally. They will play Columbia in Naples, Fla. on Sunday before hosting the Stags.
 
The Stags return to Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium for back-to-back conference clashes against Iona on March 27 and Canisius on March 30.
