CAA Slate Opens with Noon Visit from Hofstra, Saturday at Rafferty Stadium

Fairfield has defeated the Pride in back-to-back seasons

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Men's Lacrosse opens the conference slate with its first game in the newly-christened Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) on Saturday afternoon on Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium against Hofstra. Opening faceoff between the Stags and Pride is slated for noon.
 
The Fairfield University Stags (3-4, 0-0 CAA)
  • Fairfield capped the non-conference season at 3-4 after a 14-6 rout at UMass Lowell last Saturday.
  • The Stags also own non-league wins over Wagner and Providence.
  • Bryce Ford paces the Fairfield attack with 17 goals and 23 points. He ranks fifth in the CAA in goals per game and eighth points per game.
  • Will Consoli slots eighth in the CAA in assists per contest, dishing a team-high eight helpers in the squad's first seven games.
  • Braden Lynch and Julian Radossich share the conference lead with 13 caused turnovers apiece.
 
The Hofstra University Pride (3-4, 0-0 CAA)
  • Hofstra also finished its non-conference slate at 3-4. The Pride are on a three-game losing streak, most recently dropping a 21-9 contest to North Carolina.
  • In addition to the Tar Heels, the Stags and Pride both hosted and defeated Wagner earlier this season.
  • John Madsen ranks fourth in the CAA and 16th nationally in scoring with 21 goals.
  • Chase Patterson is second in the conference with a .598 win percentage at the faceoff X and has grabbed a league-high 9.14 ground balls per game.
  • Hofstra went 5-9 overall and 3-4 in the CAA last season.
 
Series History
  • Fairfield's back-to-back wins over Hofstra have run the series to 7-8 in favor of the Pride.
  • The Stags have won six of 10 matchups since joining the CAA, including a win in the 2016 CAA Championship Semifinals.
  • With the exception of the canceled 2020 season, the teams have met in every campaign dating back to 2011.
