North Bethesda, MD – After a tight first quarter, #17/19 North Carolina gained a 9-3 lead by halftime and the host Tarheels never looked back as the Stags were on the short side of 19-8 final at Georgetown Prep. Will Consoli had a two-point day, with six other players adding one goal each.

With the loss, the Stags move to 0-2 to start the season. North Carolina improves its record to 2-0 to start the 2024 campaign.

Consoli's two points came on two goals on seven shots. Jake Gilbert, Dean Ford, Reilly Sullivan, Matt Rice,  Joe Costantino, and Rob Moore all added one goal apiece, as well.

The Fairfield backline was led by two caused turnovers for Julian Radossich and two ground balls apiece for Radossich and Eli Adams. Will Snyder contributed eight saves in the cage, and was relieved by Colin Consoli who made two saves.

The potent North Carolina offense was highlighted by five goals and two assists from Dominic Pietramala . Owen Duffy also added three goals and four assists for the Tarheels.

Collin Krieg made eight saves for the Tarheels in the cage, with Kent Goode adding three saves in relief of Krieg.

The Stags stay on the road and will look to earn their first victory of the season in a crosstown matchup against Sacred Heart on Wednesday, February 24th at 7:00 PM. The Pioneers are 0-3 to start the 2024 season after dropping games to Stony Brook, Merrimack, and Holy Cross.
