FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Men's Lacrosse goes head-to-head with a nationally-ranked foe on Saturday when the Stags challenge #17/19 North Carolina. Due to the expectation of inclement weather on Friday night, opening faceoff with the Tar Heels from Georgetown Prep in North Bethesda, Md. has been pushed back to 2 p.m.
The Fairfield University Stags (0-1, 0-0 CAA)
- The Stags opened the season last Saturday on Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium with an 8-7 loss to Lehigh
- Will Consoli and Jake Gilbert each netted a hat trick in the contest
- Fairfield nearly rallied from a 6-1 deficit, scoring six of the game's final eight goals, but was ultimately held off by the visiting Mountain Hawks
- The Stags were selected sixth of eight teams in the CAA preseason poll

- The Tar Heels opened their campaign with a 13-5 win over Mercer this past Saturday in Atlanta
- Logan McGovern led the UNC offense with three goals and four assists

- The most recent meeting in 2013 was one of a pair of one-goal games in the series, as #12 UNC defeated the #15 Fairfield, 10-9, on the back of five goals from legendary Tar Heel Marcus Holman
- Fairfield has never defeated an ACC opponent, but is 3-4 all-time against their former GWLL conference mate Notre Dame prior to the Irish joining the ACC
