Fairfield Challenges #17/19 North Carolina on Saturday in Maryland

Opening faceoff is slated for 2 p.m.

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Men's Lacrosse goes head-to-head with a nationally-ranked foe on Saturday when the Stags challenge #17/19 North Carolina. Due to the expectation of inclement weather on Friday night, opening faceoff with the Tar Heels from Georgetown Prep in North Bethesda, Md. has been pushed back to 2 p.m.

  • The Stags opened the season last Saturday on Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium with an 8-7 loss to Lehigh
  • Will Consoli and Jake Gilbert each netted a hat trick in the contest
  • Fairfield nearly rallied from a 6-1 deficit, scoring six of the game's final eight goals, but was ultimately held off by the visiting Mountain Hawks
  • The Stags were selected sixth of eight teams in the CAA preseason poll

  • Fairfield has never defeated an ACC opponent, but is 3-4 all-time against their former GWLL conference mate Notre Dame prior to the Irish joining the ACC
