FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will host the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers to open Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play on Saturday afternoon with a 2pm tip-off. The Stags are 28-15 all-time in conference openers while winning five-straight, including both seasons under Head Coach Carly Thibault-DuDonis.
 
The Stags closed out the non-conference portion of their schedule with a 77-68 setback at St. John's on Sunday. Sophomore guard Kaety L'Amoreaux led the way with a career-high 30 points while going 11-for-12 inside the 3-point line. The .917 field goal percentage on 2-point shots was the third-best in program history trailing only Janelle Brown (at Sacred Heart last season) and Baendu Lowenthal (against Richmond in 2007).
 
L'Amoreaux's performance demonstrated the next player up mindset as the Stags announced that the MAAC Preseason Player of the Year, Janelle Brown will miss the remainder of the season with an ACL injury sustained against Villanova. Brown was averaging 8.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists and recently netted her 1,000th career point.
 
As a team, the Stags tied a season-high with a .540 field goal percentage against the Red Storm while connecting on 72 percent of their 2-point attempts. This season, Fairfield leads the MAAC with a .462 field goal percentage. The Stags also lead the conference in: scoring offense (72.3 points), assists per game (16.4), and 3-pointers made per game (9.2).
 
The Mount enters the game after an overtime loss to Marist in their conference opener. Anna LeMaster is the team's leading scorer with 12.2 points and rebounder with 4.7.
 
The Stags, who have played in just two games in a 12-day span will have another 11 days off before starting the 2025 calendar year with a visit to Rider on Thursday Jan. 2 at 6pm.
