FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will travel to the Carolinas to play in two games before the Thanksgiving holiday, starting with a Monday night contest at Charleston Southern. The Stags, who are coming off a 28-point win over Central Conn., will look to continue that momentum in their first-ever meeting against the Buccaneers. Tip-off is slated for 6pm.
The Stags netted a season-high 82 points in their win over the Blue Devils, with three players in double-figures. The Stags shot 48 percent from the floor while dishing out a season-high 22 assists.
Izabela Nicoletti Leite led the Stags' playmakers by tying a career-high with 10 helpers.
Fairfield also connected on 11 3-pointers, the third time this season they have reached double-digits in 3-pointers made. The Stags currently lead the MAAC and rank 20th nationally with 9.5 long-range makes per game.
Janelle Brown nearly missed a double-double with 15 points and a game-high nine rebounds. She has compiled 986 career points, putting her 14 shy of becoming the 34th Stag all-time to reach 1,000 points.
The Stags entered the week ranked 11th in the World Exposure Mid-Major rankings and as the 23rd-ranked squad in the College Insider Mid-Major rankings.
Charleston Southern enters the game with a 1-5 record after falling to Mercer on Friday. Catherine Alben is the team's leading scorer with 15.7 points per game and a season-high 22 against the Bears.
Fairfield will head from South Carolina to North Carolina for their next contest against ACC member Wake Forest on Wednesday at 2pm.
