Saint Peter’s and Rider Visit Mahoney Arena on Alumni and Family Weekend

First-place Fairfield begins a five-match homestand

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Volleyball begins a five-match homestand inside Leo D. Mahoney Arena this weekend with visits from Saint Peter's and Rider. First serves on both Saturday and Sunday are slated for 1 p.m. Admission is free for all fans to all Fairfield Volleyball home matches this season.
 
Fairfield University Stags (9-9, 7-0 MAAC)
  • Fairfield solidified its hold on first place in the MAAC with a pair of wins in Western New York last week to move to 7-0 in the MAAC.
  • The Stags won 3-1 at Niagara and then rallied late to topple Canisius in five sets on Sunday.
  • Allie Elliott had double-doubles in both matches, piling up 3.11 kills per set on .306 hitting and averaging 5.11 digs per frame, including a career-high 28 against Niagara.
  • Fairfield's 103 digs against the Purple Eagles were the most by a Fairfield team since 2018 and most by the Stags in a four-set match since 2014.
  • Maya Walker also had a double-double against Canisius with career highs of 14 kills and 11 blocks.
  • In addition to current five-match homestand, the Stags will play six straight matches within the Town of Fairfield. Since returning from Canisius late in the evening on Oct. 13, the Stags began a stretch in which they will only leave the state of Connecticut once in a span of 33 days (Nov. 2 at Merrimack).
 
Saint Peter's University Peacocks (4-10, 2-5 MAAC)
  • Saint Peter's most recently split a home weekend, losing to Siena in straight sets before sweeping Marist, and then fell in straight sets to visiting LIU in non-conference action on Tuesday.
  • Maliyah LaBrie ranks second in the MAAC in kills per set (3.63) and points per set (4.20).
  • Elena Bilhartz rates second in the blocks with 1.04 rejections per frame.
  • The Peacocks rank eighth in the MAAC with a .154 team hitting percentage and seventh defensively with a .236 opponent hitting percentage.
 
All-Time Series
  • Fairfield has won the last 24 meetings with Saint Peter's, improving to 51-9 all-time against the Peacocks.
  • The Stags have swept the home-and-home with 3-0 decisions in each of the last four seasons.
 
Rider University Broncs (7-12, 6-1 MAAC)
  • Since dropping their MAAC opener at Quinnipiac, Rider has won six straight matches to take sole possession of second place at 6-1 in conference play.
  • Kiannisha Santiago averages a team-leading 3.00 kills per set to rank ninth in the MAAC.
  • Defensively, Molly Rohde is third in the league with 1.03 blocks per frame.
  • The Broncs own the MAAC's third most efficient offense, hitting .181 as a team. Opponents are hitting .239 against Rider, which slots eighth in the conference.
  • Rider visits Sacred Heart on Saturday before making the trip to Mahoney Arena.
 
All-Time Series
  • Fairfield leads the all-time series with the Broncs, 44-5. The Stags' current 12-match winning streak is tied for the longest in series history.
  • In addition to the annual home-and-home series, the Stags and Broncs met in the 2023 MAAC Championship Semifinals at Mahoney Arena as well as the 2021 MAAC Championship Match hosted by Siena.
