FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team will make the short trip to face their crosstown rivals Sacred Heart on Wednesday night with kickoff at 7pm. The Stags will enter the match in first place in the league standings with a 7-0-1 record, accounting for their 22 points.
 
Fairfield will also bring in the third-best winning percentage in the nation with their 12-1-1 overall record as they trail only Mississippi State and Duke.
 
This season represents the 18th time in program history the Stags have reached double-digits in wins, and the fourth-time under Head Coach David Barrett. Also entering the match, Coach Barrett stands at 299 career wins during his 24 years as a head coach. He owns 65 of those wins at Fairfield, including 14 during the 2022 season.
 
Fairfield's up-tempo offense has been the key to the team's success as they rank in the top-10 nationally in: goals per game (2.6), shots per game (21.3), shots on goal per game (9.4), and corner kicks per game (7.7).
 
With her goal against Mount St. Mary's, the MAAC Preseason Player of the Year Maddy Theriault moved into a tie for the most in the MAAC with eight goals. She ranks eighth in program history with 26 career goals.
 
On the defensive side, the Stags recently held the Mount without a shot for the first time in Mount's program history. It also marked the fifth time in Division I this season that a team was held without a shot.
 
Sacred Heart enters play with a 2-3-2 conference record, placing seventh in the MAAC. Shea Kelleher is the team's leading scorer with four goals while Grace O'Hara paces the team with four assists.
 
Fairfield will have a week off before next taking the pitch at Marist on Wednesday night at 7pm.
