FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University swimming and diving teams will have a couple of first in regard to their 2024-25 schedule this weekend. The Stags will take to the road and compete in a dual meet for the first time this year when they travel to Bryant University on Friday. The meet is slated for a 4 pm start.

The Stags are coming off a successful opening weekend which took place on their home turf, hosting the 2024 Fairfield Invitational along with Southern Connecticut State University, Manhattan University, and Sacred Heart University. For Fairfield, the two teams combined for 26 first-place finishes out of the 28 swimming events raced with the women securing 14 and the men recording 12 first place spots during the Invitational which sent the Stags to the top spot in the team standings.

There were many standout performances by both the men's and women's teams last weekend, highlighted by Olivia Thompson on the women's side who earned a pair of individual wins (50 and 100 free) and being part of both relays wins.

For the men, Tim Regan garnered two first-place finishes (200 and 400 free) individually as well as being a part of the top time in the 400 free relay. Andrew Cataldo gathered first-place points in the 3-meter event (257.78 points) and a second-place total in the 1-meter dive (224.10 points). Regan was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) co-swimmer of the week for his performance while Cataldo was selected as the MAAC's diver of the week.

Bryant University will open its 2024-25 campaign this weekend after putting together solid seasons a year ago. The Bulldogs men's swimming and diving teams posted a 2-2 record last year which included a win against Marist College and Providence College. The women's swimming and diving team also put together a good showing in 2023-24 with victories over Binghampton University of Providence College and look to carry that success into 2024-25.

Following the Bryant University meet, the Stags will return home to host a pair of dual meets consecutively, beginning with Providence College on October 19 before welcoming Monmouth University on October 26. The Stags will compete against the Friars beginning at 1 pm while taking on the Hawks at 1 pm respectively.
