MANCHESTER, Conn. – Fairfield University Women's Tennis opened the spring portion of the 2023-24 season with a 6-1 loss to host UConn on Wednesday afternoon at Magic Lincer Tennis Club in Manchester.
Francesca Karman accounted for the Stags' point on the board with a singles victory.
"It was good to be able to get a match in and get our spring season started," said Head Coach
Jeff Bricker. "We battled in singles, but we have a lot to clean up before we host Stony Brook next weekend."

Karman's win came at the #4 singles flight, where she topped Victoria Matos by a count of 6-3, 6-2. The next closest singles match came at the #3 spot, where
Nicolette Loeffler was clipped by Isabel Petri Bere in two back-and-forth frames, 7-5 and 6-4.

Karman also paired with
Lily Malinowski for Fairfield's top performance on the doubles courts. The #2 duo for the Stags fell, 6-4, to the Huskies' tandem of Maria Constantinou and Nansi Toskova.

Fairfield Women's Tennis returns to action next Saturday, Feb. 10 when the Stags open the indoor home slate against Stony Brook. First serve from the Tennis Club of Trumbull is set for 6 p.m.
