FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team matched their longest winning streak in their Division I era, running their streak to 15-straight and downing Canisius 70-42. Eight different Stags got into the scoring column including a pair of double-digit scorers with
Janelle Brown and
Meghan Andersen combining for 35 of the team's points.

Carly Thibault-DuDonis said. "I'm proud of the collective effort of every single person in this program. From players to coaches to our administrators and support staff that made this happen. We have a long way to go still but I'm proud of the day-to-day intentional progress that we made. We're so much better than we were 15 games ago and hope to be much better 15 games from now."
The win improves Fairfield's overall record to 17-1 including a perfect 9-0 mark in the MAAC, their best start in the conference in program history.
The Stags led wire-to-wire holding Canisius to just six points in the first quarter while forcing six turnovers in the first 10 minutes. On the offensive end, the Stags used that tenacious defense to grab a double-digit lead and out-scoring the Griffs 17-6 in the period.
Fairfield scored the first 12 points of the fourth quarter to complete a 14-0 run and increase their lead to 25 on an
Emina Selimovic 3-pointer.
The Stags shot 50 percent or better in three quarters, including a 55 percent clip in the fourth.
Fairfield led by double-digits throughout the final 36 minutes of the game after
Kaety L'Amoreaux swished through a 3-pointer at the 3:44 mark of the first quarter to put the advantage at 15-4.
Overall, the Stags hit exactly 50 percent of their shots, going 25-for-50 from the floor including a 64 percent from 2-point range. Brown led the Stags with 19, while shooting 7-for-8 in the game which included a 2-for-3 line from deep and a perfect 3-for-3 from the charity stripe.
Andersen reached double-figures for the 12th-straight game with 16 points on a 7-for-10 shooting mark. She went 5-for-6 from 2-point range and is shooting 13-for-14 from inside the 3-point line in her last two contests.
Izabela Nicoletti-Leite orchestrated the offense with five assists without committing a turnover. Over her last six games she has dished out 32 assists with just seven miscues.
The Stags will hit the road for the next two contests, next traveling to Rider on Thursday night at 7pm.
