Stags Host Syracuse on Sunday

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team will host ACC member Syracuse on Sunday at 1pm on Lessing Field. This will be the third time the two teams have met on Lessing Field with Fairfield holding a 0-1-1 record in the previous two meetings.

  • The Stags are coming off a 5-2 setback to NEC Favorites Central Connecticut State on Thursday
  • Maddy Theriault tallied her third goal of the year and her 11th score of her career to open the scoring in the 18th minute
  • Sam Kersey would give the Stags the lead for the final time in the match as she converted a pass from Meghan Carragher that was deflected by Ella Pisani in the 39th minute
  • With her third goal of the season, Theriault is now tied for the MAAC lead with Saint Peter's Alyssa Hackett
  • Fairfield drew even 14-14 in shots against the Blue Devils and have only been out-shot once this season. They rank second in the MAAC and 77th in the country with 15.0 shots per game
  • Fairfield also ranks in the top-30 in corner kicks per game at 6.8

  • Syracuse enters with a 2-5 overall record and is also coming off a 5-2 setback against Harvard
  • Erin Flurey leads the team with six points on two goals and two assists

  • The Stags will close out the non-conference portion of their schedule as they travel to crosstown rivals Sacred Heart on Wednesday at 7pm.
