EDISON, N.J. – Fairfield University Women's Soccer freshman
Dana Nadda was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Week after netting her first collegiate goal in Fairfield's win at Fordham. Nadda becomes the second Stag this season to garner a conference weekly award and the first rookie honor.
It's a nice honor for her!" Head Coach
David Barrett said. "She really stepped up and met the moment for us and gave us a needed boost."
In the 32nd minute, Nadda unleashed an absolute rocket into the top right corner of the goal off a free kick to give the Stags a 1-0 lead over A-10 Fordham, which also eventually became the game-winning tally. It is the first weekly honor in Nadda's career and also marks the 12th time the Stags have earned a MAAC Rookie of the Week honor in the last six years under Coach Barrett.
Nadda, who hails from Cairo, Egypt, came to Fairfield after competing on the Egyptian Senior National Team and was also the leading scorer for IMG U19 Premier and a three-time top scorer for the MED Cup.
In her rookie season, Nadda has logged 150 minutes, scoring one goal and attempting two shots on goal.
Nadda and the rest of the Stags will be back in action on Lessing Field on Thursday at 6pm when they host Central Connecticut State.
