Stags Close Out Non-Conference Action at Crosstown Rivals Sacred Heart

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team will close out the non-conference portion of their 2023 schedule as they take the short bus ride to Park Ave Field and face their crosstown rivals Sacred Heart on Wednesday night at 7pm. This will be the final tune-up for the Stags who will open MAAC play on Saturday with a Senior Day matchup against Mount St. Mary's at 1pm.
 
Things To Know:
  • The Stags are coming off a 0-0 draw against ACC member Syracuse on Saturday despite out-shooting the Orange 13-8 and a 10-3 margin in the second half.
  • Fairfield played the final 39 minutes of the contest up a player after a Syracuse midfielder was issued a red card for stopping a breakaway scoring chance.
  • Katie Wright made two saves in picking up her second shutout of the season and sixth of her career
  • Fairfield is 2-0-1 all-time against Sacred Heart including a 3-1 victory last season
 
About Sacred Heart
  • The Pioneers are coming off a narrow one-goal loss to ACC member Boston College on Sunday.
  • Grace O'Hara leads the team with three goals while Morgan Bovardi and Maria Nolan have also netted a pair of goals for the Pioneers
