Women’s Soccer Hosts Harvard on Friday Night

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team will close out their week long three-game home stand when they welcome Harvard University to Lessing Field on Friday at 6pm. It will be first match under the lights for the squad in the 2023 season and admission is free for all fans
 
Things To Know:
  • The Stags extended their non-conference home unbeaten streak to 16 games under Head Coach David Barrett with their 1-1 draw against Lowell on Sunday. Fairfield is 14-0-2 in those contests.
  • Aubrey Silverman netted her first career goal in the draw against the River Hawks as she struck the ball from 25 yards out to the top corner. Fairfield has scored three of the five goals in the conference from three different goal scorers
  • Senior Allie Kirby was named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week, marking the first weekly honor of her career. She netted a goal in the win against Binghamton and assisted on the lone goal against UMass Lowell.
  • Fairfield attempted 13 corner kicks in the 1-1 draw, their most in a game since Oct. 8, 2022 in a match at Rider
  • Earlier this week, the Stags earned a College Team Academic Award for maintaining a team GPA of 3.63 during the last academic year. Fairfield ranked in the top-40 in the nation and fourth among Division I teams in New England
 
About Harvard
  • The Crimson entered the year ranked No. 23 in the NCAA Coaches Poll but dropped out of the national rankings after not playing a game through the first week. They are still ranked No. 22 nationally in the Top Drawer Soccer rankings and are receiving votes in the Coaches' Poll.
  • Harvard returns it's top three goal scorers from a team that netted 47 goals last season and ranked second in the country in points per game (8.24) and assists per game (2.71), while ranking sixth in scoring offense (2.74).
  • The Crimson held a 12-2-3 overall record in 2022 and advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament

  • The Stags will travel for their first road match of the 2023 season when they head to Bryant for a matchup with the Bulldogs on Thursday night at 7pm.
