The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team will continue their three-game opening homestand when they take on UMass Lowell on Lessing Field on Sunday at 1pm. Admission is free for all fans.
 
Things To Know:
 

• The Stags opened up their 2023 campaign with a 2-0 victory over America East favorites Binghamton. It is the fifth time the Stags have started off the season 1-0 in the six years under Head Coach David Barrett.
• Fairfield is now 13-0-2 in non-conference action on Lessing Field under Barrett with nine shutout victories.
• All-time, Fairfield is 158-67-24 on Lessing Field and 24-4-2 under Barrett.
• The MAAC Preseason Player of the Year, Maddy Theriault led the Stags in the season opener with a goal and an assist. She became the first MAAC student-athlete to score a goal during the 2023 season
• Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Wright recorded her fifth career shutout in the victory and is already one clean sheet away from entering into the top-8 in program history
• The Stags attempted 20 shots in their victory over the Bearcats. The squad averaged a MAAC best 16.4 shots last season while attempting 20 or more six times

• The River Hawks are coming off a 2-1 loss to Merrimack on Thursday night. Calliste Brookshire, who set a career-high with seven goals last year, netted the first goal of the season for UMass Lowell.
• The River Hawks were picked to finish fourth in the America East Preseason Poll after tallying a 4-2-2 conference mark last season and their fifth-straight conference tournament appearance.
