SAN JOSÉ, COSTA RICA – Less than 24 hours after landing in Costa Rica, Fairfield University Men's Basketball was on the court for the first of three games on the week-long international trip. In the first outing for the 2023-24 edition of the Stags, the squad turned on the heat in the second half against the University of British Columbia, extending a 47-41 halftime advantage into a 90-69 victory.
Jalen Leach headed up the Fairfield scoring effort with 22 points.
In addition to Leach's 22 points,
Brycen Goodine and
Louis Bleechmore scored 13 points apiece.
Tonight's game at BN Arena in Costa Rica's capital city of San José was the first of three contests in three days between Fairfield and the UBC Thunderbirds. A member of U Sports (Canada's equivalent to the NCAA) and the Canada West Conference, UBC went 22-10 last season.
Prior to today's game, Fairfield Men's Basketball visited the La Paz Waterfall Gardens in Sarapiqui.
