#20 Delaware Stop Visiting Stags, 17-7

Ford leads the attack with a three-point day

NEWARK, Del. -- #20 Delaware gained a 4-1 lead in the first quarter of Saturday's visit to Newark for Fairfield University Men's Lacrosse, and the host Blue Hens never looked back as the Stags were on the short side of 17-7 final at Delaware Stadium. Bryce Ford had a three-point day, with Max Paparozzi and Will Consoli each scoring twice in the Colonial Athletic Association outing.
 
With the loss, the Stags move to 3-8 overall and 1-3 in the CAA. Delaware improves to 8-3 on the year as is one of two remaining league unbeatens – alongside Drexel – at 4-0.
 
Ford's three points came on a goal and two assists. In addition to the two markers apiece for Consoli and Paparozzi, Dean Ford scored one and Davis Allen returned to action and netted his first goal as a Stag. Rounding out the attack was Hank D'Ambrogi with two assists.
 
In the midfield, the Stags split the faceoff battle, 14-14. Dylan Smith went 12-for-24 at the X with five ground balls, and Tim Lucky was 2-for-4 in relief.
 
The Fairfield backline was led by three caused turnovers for Zack Antoniou and three ground balls by Braden Lynch. Will Snyder went the distance in the cage and finished with 14 saves.
 
The potent Delaware offense was highlighted by four goals and an assist from Tye Kurtz to become program's all-time leader in both points (256) and goals (164). He is also now the all-time leading scorer in CAA lacrosse history.
 
Matt Kilkeary picked up the win in goal with 13 saves.
 
Fairfield Men's Lacrosse enters the back half of the CAA slate with the three league newcomers - Monmouth, Stony Brook and Hampton - still on the docket. First, the Stags host Monmouth at Rafferty Stadium on Saturday, April 15. Opening faceoff is set for 3:30 PM as the nightcap of a Fairfield Lacrosse doubleheader. Monmouth earned its first-ever CAA win this afternoon, topping host Hampton by a 14-6 count to improve to 5-6 overall and 1-3 in league action.
