BUFFALO, N.Y. – With the top seed in the upcoming Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship already secured going to this Saturday's regular season finale, Fairfield University Women's Lacrosse locked up the outright Regular Season Title with a 10-8 win at Canisius. The victory was the 100th for Head Coach Laura Field in her collegiate career.
With the win, Fairfield concludes the regular season at 12-5 overall and 7-1 in the MAAC to polish off the 14th MAAC Regular Season Championship in program history. Canisius finishes the regular season at 8-7 with a 3-5 MAAC tally. The Golden Griffs will await results around the league later this afternoon to learn their postseason fate.

She has accumulated an 89-44 record with four MAAC Championships in eight seasons at Fairfield in addition to an 11-5 record in her lone season as the head coach at Yale in 2008. Today's outing was paced by five goals from Elizabeth Talluto and a hat trick by Libby Rowe. Olivia Doody and Amanda Kozak added a goal apiece, with Doody and Ellie Grefenstette rounding out the attack with one assist each.
The story of the day was the Fairfield defense, which limited Canisius to just 18 shots. The Griffs' eight goals marked the seventh time in eight league contests that the Stags held their opponent under 10 markers. Fairfield ceded only 56 goals in conference play,
Caroline Mangan, Maggie Fort and Julia Rigolizzo led that effort today with two caused turnovers apiece. Fort and Mangan also each nabbed three ground balls. Casey Collins made four saves in the Fairfield cage.
Skylar McArthur led the Canisius offense with four goals. Jody Chu made 12 saves for the Griffs.
As the top seed in the MAAC Championship, Fairfield has earned a bye to the semifinal round of the conference tournament. The "Final Four" will convene on Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium on May 5-7 to determine the 2023 MAAC Women's Lacrosse Champion.
