PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The Fairfield University women's rowing team opened the 2023 spring season with a strong outing at the Jesuit Invitational this afternoon. The varsity 4 and the varsity 8 both captured the top spot in the Petite Final while the second varsity 8 secured second in the grand final, highlighting the team's performance in the event.
The second varsity 8 registered a time of 7:03.9 to secure the runner-up slot in the standings with Fordham winning the race (6:58.6) and Saint Joseph's taking third place (7:06.8). The Fairfield entry consisted of

The varsity 4 took first place in the petite final by crossing the finish line in 8:26.4 which was nearly eight seconds faster than Loyola University. The Stags crew included Cassie Reilly, Gia Enderle,

Megan Rourke, and coxswain
Marianna Kalin. The varsity 8 also had a similar path in the petite final, edging Loyola University by two seconds as the Stags finished first in the race with a time of 7:07.1. Fairfield's entry was comprised by

In the third varsity 8, Fairfield went up against the College of the Holy Cross and Fordham University, finishing third among the trio of starters. Holy Cross took first place by completing the course in 7:10.8, followed by Fordham's run of 7:13.1. The Stags clocked in at 7:31.0 through the efforts of

The Fairfield University rowing team will return to competition against Sacred Heart University on April 1 before racing Holy Cross, Manhattan, and Marist on April 2.
