FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will look to extend their current winning streak to a season-high four games when they travel to Riverdale, N.Y., to face the Manhattan Jaspers on Thursday night at 7pm on ESPN+. The Stags will also look for their eighth road win of the season, as they hold a 7-4 mark on the road.
The Stags are coming off their third-straight win as they ended their last contest on a 12-0 run and held Canisius scoreless over the final five minutes for a 65-55 victory.
Mimi Rubino led the Stags with a career-high 19 points while going 6-for-12 from the floor and 5-for-6 from the charity stripe. Rubino and
Callie Cavanaugh combined for 21 of the team's 32 points in the first half and kept the Stags in the game.
Fairfield was able to erase a five-point halftime deficit, the third time this season they came back to win from being down at halftime.
Rubino's 19 points helped the Fairfield bench tally 30 points, just three shy of a season-high. Over the last two games, the Stags' reserves are averaging 25.0 points per contest.
Kate Peek was the main contributor against Mount St. Mary's on Thursday night as she went 3-for-3 from 3-point range during a 15-0 run for the Stags. Peek was rewarded with her first career start on Saturday afternoon.
Mackenzie Daleba has also contributed off the bench, averaging 21.5 minutes in those two contests. She is shooting 71 percent from the floor and chipping in 5.5 points per game.
Over the last seven games, the Stags have used four different starting lineups with three players: Mackenzie Martin,
Jocelyn Polansky, and Peek all earning their first career starts.
The Jaspers enter the game with a 7-13 record and a 4-7 mark in the MAAC after back-to-back losses to Quinnipiac and Iona. Dee Dee Davis is the playmaker for the team with team-highs in points per game (14.8) and rebounds (8.3).
The Stags will return home when they welcome Rider to the Leo D. Mahoney Arena on Saturday afternoon at 2pm.
