Stags Host Manhattan on Monday Night

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will close out their four-game homestand when they welcome the Manhattan Jaspers to the Leo D. Mahoney Arena on Monday night at 7pm. The contest will mark Fairfield's final home game of the 2023 calendar year, and their last game on campus until January 11.

Fairfield enters the game on a six-game winning streak, their longest under Head Coach Carly Thibault-DuDonis. The six-game win streak is tied for the 27th longest in the nation, and the third longest on the East Coast behind just Georgetown and Maryland. The six games are also tied with Brown among all teams in New England.

Fairfield's 62-44 MAAC opening win over Mount St. Mary's on Saturday put the winning streak at six and improved Fairfield's record to 8-1.

The Stags were led by two of their Road Runners in Emina Selimovic and Meghan Andersen who combined to score 40 of the team's 62 points. Selimovic led the way with a career-high 21 as she went 7-for-11 from the floor and an impressive 6-for-7 mark from the free throw line. She also tied for the team lead with eight rebounds.

Manhattan will be another tough test for the Stags as the Jaspers enter as the MAAC leading defense, surrendering a conference low 48.1 points per game while holding opponents to shoot just .336 from the field. Nitzan Amar leads the squad with 13.3 points per game while Petra Juric grabs a team-best 8.3 rebounds per contest.

Fairfield will have a 12-day break for final exams, next taking the court on Saturday, Dec. 30 at Stonehill at 2pm.
