FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Vice President for Athletics Paul Schlickmann announced today that
Carl Rees is stepping down as the Head Coach of the Fairfield University Men's Soccer program. Rees is the winningest coach in Fairfield and MAAC Men's Soccer history with a record of 252-184-70 (.567) in 28 seasons leading the Stags.

Carl Rees has been a valued member of the Fairfield University community for close to three decades and has achieved significant success at the helm of our program during that time," said Schlickmann. "I want to thank him for his commitment to the hundreds of young men he has coached and for his passionate dedication to Stags Athletics and our Men's Soccer program. We wish Coach Rees the best in his future endeavors."
Under Rees' leadership, Fairfield won five MAAC Championships and six MAAC Regular Season Championships. The Stags made five NCAA postseason appearances, including the 2006 MAAC Championship team that defeated UConn in the NCAA First Round for the first and only national postseason win in program history. Rees is a four-time MAAC Coach of the Year.
"It has been an honor to serve as the Head Coach of Fairfield University Men's Soccer for the last 28 seasons," said Rees. "I am indebted to the many alumni who have played for our program and achieved a lot of success on and off the pitch. I would also like to thank the Fairfield University community for the continued support of our program throughout my career as a Stag."
A national search for the next head coach of Fairfield Men's Soccer will begin immediately. Fairfield has retained executive search firm TurnkeyZRG to assist with the process.
