BOSTON, Mass. – The Fairfield University men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed their three-day stay at the Terrier Invitational this afternoon. The men's team took third place with 1212.5 points and the women's squad captured fourth place with 913 points in the multi-team event.
Erin Hoyland picked up a win in the 1650 free (16:57.83) which
Tone Sandsjoe followed with the top spot in the 200 breaststroke (2:18.40) in the 200 breaststroke. Joseph Stewart just missed first-place in the 1650 free, taking second in the event with his time of 16:04.50.
Nora Segurola-Larrinaga secured third place in the 200 back by eclipsing the two-minute mark with her time of 1:59.82. Aidan Schnapf was the Stags' top finisher in the event on the men's side, taking eighth by touching the wall in 1:54.40.
Olivia Thompson took third place in the B final and 13
th overall in the 100 free, finishing the distance in 52.45. The men's team put two swimmers in the top five, highlighted by Patrick Gill third place swim (46.09). Tim Regan captured fifth place by posting a time of 46.69.
Fairfield boasted the top two swimmers in the 200 breaststroke as
Alison Sposili was the runner up in the event (2:20.44), just two seconds off Sandsjoe winning time. Hans Lim was the men's top finisher in the event, garnering seventh place based on his finish of 2:08.18.
Olivia Glaser completed the200 fly with a time of 2:09.41 which was strong enough for ninth-place overall. Tim Regan earned fifth place in the same event when he registered a time of 1:55.57, completing the swimming portion of the Terrier Invitational.
The 400 free relay was the final event of the Invitational with the women's foursome taking sixth overall after posting a time of 3:28.15 behind the efforts of
Nora Segurola-Larrinaga,
Olivia Thompson,
Serafina Viola, and
Erini Pappas. The men's entry gathered third based on the performances (3:04.68) of Joseph Stewart, Tim Regan, Nicholas Besgen, and Patrick Gill.
The US Open is next up on the Fairfield University men's and women's swimming and diving teams. The event runs from November 2 through December 2 in Greensboro, N.C.
