EDISON, N.J. – After guiding the back row for Fairfield University Volleyball in a pair of 3-0 road sweeps,
Kyla Berg has been selected as the MAAC Libero of the Week. Berg averaged 3.67 digs per set as the Stags rolled past Manhattan and Iona to improve to 5-1 in conference play.
Berg totaled 22 assists for the week, posting 11 in each end of the 2-0 weekend. The Fairfield defense limited the Jaspers and Gaels to an aggregate .054 hitting percentage, fueled by five of six sets below a .100 clip.
Berg also chipped in offensively with four assists in each contest.
On the season, Berg ranks fourth in the MAAC with 3.37 digs per set, and the Stags' defense leads the conference with opponents hitting just .161 against them. In Fairfield's six conference matches, opponents have been limited to a .106 hitting percentage.
Fairfield's 5-1 MAAC record is a part of a 9-5 overall tally. The Stags will host league leader and reigning conference champion Quinnipiac (10-5, 6-0 MAAC) at Leo D. Mahoney Arena on Friday at 7 p.m. Admission is free for all fans to all regular season home matches this season.
