Stags Host Marist on Lessing Field on Saturday Night

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team will play just their second match in the last two weeks when they host the Marist Red Foxes under the lights on Lessing Field on Saturday at 7pm. This will be the first conference home match for the Stags this season after beginning the MAAC slate with a 3-0 win at Siena. Fairfield will also be looking for their seventh-straight win on Lessing Field which will be their longest home winning streak since the 2013-14 seasons.

The success at home has been a theme for Head Coach David Barrett and the Stags who own a 24-5-3 record at Lessing Field under Barrett while earning a result in 12 of their last 13 matches.

The Stags will be returning to their home pitch for the first time since Sept. 8, and will be playing in just their third match in the last 13 days. Fairfield opened up their MAAC slate with a 3-0 victory at Siena with Maddie Mills and Maddy Theriault each touching net for the squad. Each player tallied their team-leading third goals of the season.

Katie Wright posted her third shutout of the season in net after recording four saves. In her freshman season, she has posted an .825 save percentage which ranks eighth in the country among rookies. Her three clean sheets are tied for the MAAC lead and her .933 goals against average ranks her fourth in the conference.

Marist will enter play with a 2-1-4 record after posting a 2-2 draw at Mount St. Mary's. Nicole Colantuono leads the team with three goals and seven points. Goalkeeper Natalie Kelchner has played in all 630 minutes in net for the Red Foxes and has posted an 1.14 goals against average and a .800 save percentage.

The Stags will hit the road for their mid-week matchup when they head to Emmitsburg, Md., for a match against the inaugural MAAC team Mount St. Mary's on Wednesday at 4pm.
