Women’s Basketball Announces Addition of Izabela Nicoletti Leite

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Women's Basketball Head Coach Carly Thibault-DuDonis has announced her first signing as the leader of the Stags with the addition of Izabela Nicoletti Leite to the Fairfield program. The transfer from Florida State appeared in 21 career games for the Seminoles and was a three-time ACC Academic Honor Roll selection.

"I am so excited to add Izabela to our Stag family!" Head Coach Thibault-DuDonis said. "She's an extremely skilled combo guard who can score at all three levels, plays with great passion, and comes with a desire to lead. She's a great fit for the culture we are building both on and off the court."

"I am extremely excited to be part this new family," Nicoletti Leite said. "The opportunity that I have here at Fairfield is huge and I just can't wait to get on campus and start working."

Nicoletti Leite came to Florida State as a top-20 recruit in the country as she was ranked the No. 16 overall player by Hoopgurlz in the 2018 class. She averaged 19.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.9 steals as a senior at Neuse Baptist Christian Academy in helping the squad to a 22-5 record. She was also named a McDonalds All-American and the North Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year.

At Florida State, Nicoletti Leite battled injuries that forced her to miss her first two collegiate seasons. She would appear in 21 career games for the Seminoles with a career-high 11 last year. She was a member of three NCAA Tournament teams and a three-time ACC Academic Honor Roll selection.

Nicoletti Leite was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil and served as a key member of the Brazilian U17 National Team in 2015 and 2016. She also led Brazil's U16 team to a silver medal at the 2015 FIBA Americas by scoring 24 points against the United States.

She will join a Fairfield team who will enter next season as the reigning MAAC Champions, and also their first year under the direction of Head Coach Thibault-DuDonis.
