LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – Charlie Pagliarini clubbed two home runs for the second time in the three-game series, but it was not enough as the Fairfield University Baseball team fell 14-7 against the Rider Broncs in the rubber game. The Stags had a two-run lead in the fifth but the Broncs would score nine runs in the next two innings to take control of the game.
 
Matt Zaffino would give the Stags their first lead of the day with a two-out, two-run double to put the Stags ahead 4-3 in the fourth. The RBI would be the 26th and 27th of the year for Zaffino, putting him in the top-five of the MAAC.
 
Evan Berta would follow with a RBI single to increase the lead to two. The base knock would be the middle hit of a 3-for-3 showing for Berta.
 
Pagliarini would continue his impressive series with a solo homer to right in the fifth to put the score at 6-4. The junior would also launch a solo shot in the eighth, his second multi-homer game in his first series since coming back from injury.
 
Rider, however, would take the lead and more with a six-run sixth inning. Luke Lesch would start with a go-ahead two-run homer and would be followed with four more RBI hits.
 
The Stags would tally seven hits from three different players. Berta led the team with three with Pagliarini and Zaffino chipping in a pair.
 
Fairfield is back in action on Tuesday when they welcome crosstown rivals Sacred Heart at 3pm
