Rowing Teams Begin Spring Campaign At Jesuit Invitational

The Fairfield University men's and women's rowing teams opened the spring portion of their  season this morning by competing in the Jesuit Invitational in Philadelphia.

The women's varsity 4 highlighted the results by taking first in the A final, completing the course in 7:49.9. The Stags were represented by Kiersten Murray, Sarah Wendling, Rebecca Patti, Caroline McAndrew, and coxswain Marianna Kalin. Fairfield edged out the Saint Joseph's A entry which finished in 8:00.3.
The women's third varsity 8 also crossed the finish line first by registering a time of 8:25.2 which was strong enough to beat out Fordham's run of 8:49.1. The crew was comprised by Makayla Reardon, Abby Morrill, Jess Demarse, Megan Rourke, Cassie Reilly, Alicia Glasheen, Natalia Bertolotti, Adailia Flores, and coxswain Michaela Thompson.

The women's second varsity 8 was less than two seconds off the top spot thanks to the efforts of Audrey Sedensky, Olivia Heilbronn, Meghan Megill, Megan Blair, Christina Caruso, Ana Szymanski, Catie Lapolla, Catherine Morrissey, and coxswain Hannah Cross. Fairfield owned a time of 7:26.0, just off Fordham's mark of 7:24.3.

The women's varsity 8 took second place in the A final by registering a time of 7:21.1, just a half second off Fordham's winning run of 7:20.5. Fairfield's entry consisted of Arianna Welton, Flo Caces, Isabella King, Chloe Lennon, Emma Szachta, Ana McDonough, Kathryn Bergstrom, Arden Costello, and coxswain Erin Dobbs.

The men's varsity 8 captured the top time in the B final by completing the course in 6:22.8, nearly 23 seconds better than Loyola. The crew included Mike Hamilton, Mike McCarthy, Mike Greene, Ryan Wrynn, Spencer Chidley, Mike Pagliaro, Jerry Malloy, Brady Stergion, and coxswain Matt Tarabocchia.
             
The men's novice 8 took second place in a race against Holy Cross with the Stags recording a time of 7:13.5 while the Crusaders checked in with a sub-seven minute performance. Lanyon Henwood, Patrick Arsenault, John Reilly, Christian DiGangi, Jack Cartnick, Frank DiNatale, Eddie Pizzaro, George Voegele, and coxswain Angeles Mendoza rowed for the Stags.
