Stags Make Monday Trip to Binghamton for 3 PM Faceoff

Fairfield will play its first-ever meeting with the Beacats

Due to inclement weather and field conditions, the game has been rescheduled to Monday at 3 p.m.

FAIRFIELD, Conn. –
Fairfield University Men's Lacrosse makes its first-ever trip to Vestal, N.Y. to challenge Binghamton on Monday at 3 p.m. Both teams are coming off of in-state victories, with the Stags most recently knocking off Quinnipiac and the Bearcats picking up a win at Hofstra, both on Tuesday evening.

LAST TIME OUT
Taylor Strough became the seventh player in Fairfield history to score 100 career goals, netting five to help power the Stags past visiting Quinnipiac on Tuesday evening at Rafferty Stadium. Jack McKenna also had five markers and James Corasaniti made 15 saves in his first start of the spring.

Strough's output included the tally that stood up as the seventh game-winner of his career. For McKenna, his five goals marked a new career high in goals and points. He also netted two of the Stags' three man-up tallies as Fairfield went 3-of-5 on the advantage.

The Stags also got single tallies from Mike Drake (man-up), Kyle Borda, Bryce Ford and Max Paparozzi. Borda and Paparozzi both dished out four assists as well, and Ford doled out a pair of helpers. Keeping the Stags on the attack was Frankie Labetti at 13-for-24 on the draw

McKENNA, AGAIN-A
For the second time this season, Jack McKenna has been recognized as the CAA Rookie of the Week. McKenna had a hat trick in the win at Sacred Heart and scored twice last Saturday against Harvard.

The freshman has scored at least two goals in every game this season en route to 17 goals and 19 total points. He ranks second in the CAA with 2.83 goals per game, trailing only his teammate Taylor Strough. Exclusively among freshmen, his scoring total leads the conference and rates him fourth in the nation.

McKenna was previously named CAA Rookie of the Week on Feb. 21 following a four-point outing in the home win over Wagner.

THE BINGHAMTON UNIVERSITY BEARCATS
Binghamton enters its first home game since Feb. 12 with a record of 2-3. The Bearcats most recently recorded a 12-6 win at Hofstra on Tuesday and also own a one-goal victory over Lafayette. Binghamton has suffered losses at home to Marist and on the road to Princeton and Bucknell.

The attack is run through Kevin Winkoff to the tune of 13 goals. Winkoff also shares the team high in assists with Andrew Arce and Daniel MacKinney. In the midfield, Matthew Desouza is 57-for-90 (.633) on the draw with 27 ground balls.

Reigning America East Defensive Player of the Year Teddy Dolan has started all five games to date and has played all but eight minutes in the Binghamton cage. He holds a .504 save percentage with 66 saves and 65 goals allowed.

Quinnipiac was tabbed for fourth in the MAAC Preseason Poll after sharing the regular season title in 2021. George and attackman Jake Tellers were named to the Preseason All-MAAC Team.

The Bearcats were 5-4 last spring in a season comprised entirely of America East games and have been tabbed for fifth in the 2022 AE Preseason Poll.

COACH BAX ON THE QU GAME
"Our keys going into tonight were to stick to the menu [playbook] and focus on fundamentals. We did a good job of that for 60 minutes, and the result was probably our most complete game of the season."

STROUGH JOINS THE CENTURY CLUB
With five goals against Quinnipiac, Taylor Strough became the seventh member of the Stags' 100 Goal Club. He also moved into a tie for 13th in points with Travis Nelson '08 at 120. This season, Strough has scored a team- and CAA-leading 22 goals through six games and ranks fifth nationally with 3.67 goals per contest.

UP NEXT
After Monday's road outing, the Stags begin a three-game homestand from March 19-April 2 featuring visits from Big East foes Providence and St. John's followed by the CAA opener against Hofstra.
