Stags Host Iona on Monday Night

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – For just the second time in 29 days, the Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will play in front of their home fans at the Leo D. Mahoney Arena when they host the Iona Gaels on Monday at 7pm. The Stags will also be collecting toys as part of the Al's Angels Toy Drive to celebrate the holiday season.

The Stags started their conference slate in a merry way as they took down Saint Peter's 76-49 on the road. Fairfield allowed just 16 field goals against the Peacocks, marking a season-low by a Fairfield opponent this year.

In a complete team effort, nine different Stags got into the scoring column and 13 different players grabbed a rebound. Fairfield totaled 33 bench points in the win, eclipsing the 20 points set against Stonehill for the most by the reserves this year. Mimi Rubino led the bench players with 12 points, her third-straight game in double figures. Brooke Tatarian also chipped in with a career-high 10 points while Mackenzie Daleba knotted eight points and nine rebounds in just 10 minutes.

Callie Cavanaugh led all players with 21 points, her fourth game this season that she has tallied 20 or more points. She leads the MAAC and ranks 33rd nationally with an 18.8 points per game mark. She enters Monday 36 points shy of the 1,000 career point mark.

Iona is coming off a big MAAC win as they took down the Quinnipiac Bobcats 57-54 on Saturday. Kate Mager was the hero of the game with a go-ahead 3-pointer with six seconds remaining. Juana Camillion is the team's leading scorer at 13.8 points per game, narrowly out-scoring teammate Ketsia Athias who also brings in 7.3 rebounds.

The Fairfield University's Women's Basketball team is teaming up with Al's Angels in hosting a toy drive. Al's Angels has provided an Amazon wishlist. Each person that donates will receive one free scoop of ice cream to Saugatuck Sweets and be entered into a raffle to win a gift card to Saugatuck Sweets (proof of purchase is necessary, an Amazon receipt/confirmation email is best).
