TEANECK, N.J. -- The Fairfield University men's and women's rowing teams turned in strong performances at the New York Rowing Association (
NYRA) Fall Championship on Sunday afternoon. The men's team picked up first-place finishes in each event while the women's squad turned in solid times throughout the competition.
The women's first varsity 8 started the event with a third-place finish in its heat, completing the course in 6:59.67 with
UConn (6:50.35) and Marist College (6:53.87) taking the top two spots. The Stags advanced to the first varsity final and again took third place by registering a time of 7:13.11 with Marist taking first place in 6:59.30. The Fairfield entry included Arianna

The women's second varsity 8 was next on the docket with
UConn running the course in 6:58.93 followed by Marist College (7:06.86) and Fairfield (7:08.33). In the women's final, the same placement held true as
UConn sported the winning time of 7:07.81 while the Stags held third place based on their finish of 7:25.34. The Fairfield crew included

The third varsity eight saw Fairfield move up a spot in the heat race by taking second with its time of 7:42.04 which trailed only
UConn's run of 7:15.56. Later that afternoon,
UConn (7:25.90) and Fairfield (7:54.60) ran one and two once again in the third varsity final. The Stags were represented by

The varsity four rounded out the women's competition for the day, finishing third in the heat (8:12.98) as well as in the final (8:24.74).
UConn and Marist were the top two finishers respectively in both the heat and the final. In the heat race, Olivia

Grace McDonough, and coxswain
Ellery McSpedon competed for Fairfield. In the final race, Gia
Enderle moved into the shell in place of
Shaylin Tombs.
The men's team won the varsity 4, second varsity 8, and varsity 8 while on the water Sunday afternoon with the foursome being the first to compete in the championship. The Stags earned the top spot with a solid time of 7:18.78 which was well ahead of runner up Villanova's time of 8:39.50. The Stags' entry was comprised by Will

The second varsity 8 place two entries into the event and the Stags finished first and second in the race. The A boat crossed the finish line in 6:19.81 while the B shell secured second place with a time of 6:32.42. The A boat included Peter

The first varsity 8 rounded out the day by edging Villanova with a 15-second difference, completing the distance in 6:15.72. Villanova ended its run with its time of 6:30.03. The Stags were represented by Mike Hamilton, Ryan
