FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Kyla Berg and
Ella Gardiner have been named to the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team, as announced by the organization on Tuesday. Berg and Gardiner represent Fairfield University Volleyball on the prestigious squad.
Berg is a junior co-captain of the Stags and played in 102 sets this fall, primarily at libero. She led the team and ranked sixth in the MAAC with 3.73 digs per set. Berg also dished out 81 assists with 26 service aces and landed five kills from the back row. She averaged 5.17 digs per set in the Stags' run to the MAAC Championship Match to earn All-Championship accolades.
Academically, Berg is a Dean's List student as an Accounting major.
An All-MAAC First Team honoree, Gardiner led the Stags and ranked fifth in the MAAC with a .290 hitting percentage in the middle en route to 1.95 kills per frame. Defensively, she shared the team-high of 110 blocks, slotting second in the conference with 1.11 blocks per set. Gardiner filled out her statline with 35 digs, six assists and a pair of service aces in 99 sets of action.
In the classroom, she is a member of the Dean's List majoring in Environmental Studies.
Fairfield Volleyball posted a 25-7 record this fall. The Stags went 17-1 in conference play to win their fourth consecutive MAAC Regular Season Championship and reached the MAAC Championship Final in the third straight campaign in which they competed in the postseason.
