Stags End Road Trip at Yale on Monday Night

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will conclude their season-opening three-game road trip when they travel locally to New Haven, Conn., to face the Yale Bulldogs on Monday night at 7pm. The contest will be the final outing before the Stags return home in their long-awaited debut in the brand-new Leo D. Mahoney Arena on Friday night against Stonehill.
 
The Stags are coming off their first loss of the season as they fell 77-49 at Penn State. Izabela Nicoletti-Leite tallied a career-high 14 points with Callie Cavanaugh following her with 13. Janelle Brown also recorded a new personal-best with eight points while going 2-for-5 from long-range. Mimi Rubino led the team with four assists, setting a new career-high.
 
Through the first two games of the season, Cavanaugh has combined for 20 made field goals, the second-most in the country. She leads the MAAC with 24.5 points per game and a .625 field goal percentage.
 
Yale enters play with an 0-2 record after setbacks by Fordham and Saint Joseph's. Elles van der Maas leads the team with 15 points in the season opener at Fordham. Grace Thybulle leads the squad with 9.0 rebounds per game including 13 caroms in a double-double performance against the Hawks.
 
Fairfield will return home for an historic weekend when they officially open the Leo D. Mahoney Arena, their new $51 million on-campus arena, on Friday night at 7pm against Stonehill.
