Stags Host Manhattan on Wednesday Night

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team will host the Manhattan Jaspers on Wednesday night at 7pm on Lessing Field. The Stags enter play second in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) standings with nine points for their 3-1 conference record.

The Stags will be coming off their first MAAC loss of the season as they dropped a 3-2 decision to Quinnipiac on Lessing Field on Saturday afternoon. Maddy Theriault and Hannah Vogt both touched net for the squad with both goals giving the Stags an early lead in the halves.

Quinnipiac was able to respond to each score and tie the match until getting their third score off the foot of Rebecca Cooke, who scored her nation's leading 16th goal of the season.

Theriault's goal in the second minute gave the Stags an early 1-0 lead and tied her for the team lead with her fourth goal. Vogt's score opened up the second half and was her third-straight match recording a point.

The loss also snapped Fairfield's seven matching winning streak on Lessing Field where they had notched a result in 12 of their last 13 matches.

Fairfield enters play as the MAAC leader with 173 shots and second in the rankings with 78 shots on goal.

Manhattan enters with a 2-4-2 overall record and a 0-2-1 clip in the conference. Sami Dericco leads the team with a pair of goals. Kim Mains has started seven matches in net for the Jaspers and holds a 0.57 goals against average and an .826 save percentage.
