Stags Celebrate Senior Day on Saturday

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Soccer program will host their Senior Day and honor the nine-member senior class before their Saturday matchup against Niagara at noon.  The Class of 2023, who have helped the Stags to 34 victories and four-straight MAAC Tournament appearances, will be recognized prior to kickoff at 11:45am.

The first recruiting class under Head Coach David Barrett, the nine-member senior class of Gena Pike, Maddie McClenathan, Olivia Homan, Kristi Mikula, Hannah Vogt, Allie Landino, Corrin Motyka, Rachel Dobricki, and Kayla Leary have helped change the culture of the program through their hard-work, dedication, and leadership. They have accounted for 34 victories, two 10-win seasons in just three full years, four-straight MAAC Tournament appearances, and a spot in the MAAC Championship Match in 2019.

That dedication has also been shown in the classroom where the group has combined for 15 All-MAAC selections and over 35 spots on the University's Dean's List.

This season they have helped the Stags to 12 victories as part of their 12-3 record, the most under Head Coach David Barrett. Their .800 winning percentage ranks 16th in the nation as well as placing 66th in RPI.

The Stags enter the weekend in a tie atop the MAAC standings with their 7-1 conference mark and can clinch a first-round bye with a victory over Niagara on Saturday.

The Purple Eagles sit right behind the Stags in the standings with a 6-1-1 league record and 19 points. They enter play on a five-match winning streak and have not surrendered a goal in 638-straight minutes. Offensively, they are led by Annie Ibey whose six goals and 17 points are both team-highs.

All-time, the Stags are 21-11-3 against the Purple Eagles with an 11-2 mark at home.

Fairfield will close out the 2022 regular season at home against Iona on Wednesday night at 7pm.
